We are pleased to announce the placement of Michael Shepard with King & Spalding in its San Francisco office. Shepard was a partner with Hogan Lovells and served as Managing Partner of the San Francisco office.
Chambers USA states, “Michael Shepard of Hogan Lovells US LLP is a deeply experienced white-collar lawyer with an immense standing in the field. One source describes him as “one of the superstars in white-collar litigation and investigations.” He regularly leverages the international firepower of his firm to assist major companies with high-stakes criminal matters in the US and abroad.
Shepard has deep expertise in representing companies and individuals with internal investigations and is a nationally recognized trial lawyer who frequently tries both civil and criminal cases. He is a Regent of the American College of Trial Lawyers, with the experience of approximately 40 jury trials and many high-profile victories. Included among Shepard’s trials is his role as the lead of a team that won a defense verdict for the former CEO of JDS Uniphase Co. in what has been called the largest securities fraud class action ever to go to trial, with the plaintiffs asking the jury for US$20 billion.
As a former federal prosecutor and Interim U.S. Attorney in Chicago, Shepard investigated and tried high-profile public corruption and financial fraud cases. As Chief of the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, he was responsible for the government’s most sensitive investigations.
